Irwin Kim | Senior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist

We are very excited to announce that Irwin will be returning to JBA Physio on a full-time basis, providing musculoskeletal physiotherapy treatment and instructing a number of our clinical Pilates classes.

Irwin has a strong background in injury rehabilitation, strength & conditioning, and clinical Pilates. He has a great interest in running-related injuries, high-performance rehabilitation and strength for our actively aging population.

Jules Sing | Senior Physiotherapist

Jules has recently joined JBA Physio on a part time basis, also working part-time at 557 Glenhuntly Road Physiotherapy. He brings 10 years of experience in private practice as both a physiotherapist and a skilled Pilates instructor in private practice.

Jules has a keen interest in lower back and sports injuries. He also enjoys working with professional athletes in areas such as dance and martial arts, having worked with the Australian Ju Jitsu team in particular.

Kirolos Yanni | Associate Physiotherapist

Yanni is another recent addition to JBA Physio, working with us on a full-time basis as a physiotherapist and instructor of Pilates and Exercise classes for senior participants.

Yanni is especially interested in musculoskeletal injuries and neurological rehabilitation. He has worked with clients in recovery from strokes, multiple sclerosis, and brain surgery.

He brings 20 years of physiotherapy experience in Egypt, and one year’s private practice experience in Melbourne.

Jane Banting | Senior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist

Jane continues to work at JBA Physio, working 25 hours per week.

Her primary interests are musculoskeletal, sporting and work-related injuries.

Along with physiotherapy sessions, Jane is also one of our skilled Pilates instructors.

Tim McCurdy | Senior Physiotherapist

Tim also remains at JBA Physio on a part-time basis.

His areas of interest include musculoskeletal injuries and acute sports injury rehabilitation for all ages.

Tim also has a keen interest in chronic pain management.

Leaving JBA Physio Janice Wong | Physiotherapist

Janice Wong is leaving JBA Physio at the beginning of May to travel around Australia with her family. We will miss her greatly, as she has been a very valuable member of our team for the past two years.

Glen Huntly Road Closure due to Level Crossing Removal Project(LXRP)

As the Level Cross Removal Project (LXRP) commences the major construction on Glen Huntly station, there will be some impacts on your visit to JBA Physio.

• Glen Huntly Road will be closed from 9pm on Friday 5th of May until mid-July 2023.

• Neerim Road will be closed from Monday 29th of May until late June 2023.

• Buses will replace the 67 Tram between the Glen Huntly tram depot and Carnegie from 9pm, Friday, 5th of May, until mid-July 2023.

• Buses will replace trains on the Frankston line until this construction is complete in July 2023.

Impact on parking in Glen Huntly 

• There will be no parking along Glen Huntly Road. 

• We recommend you park in Watson Grove and Huntly Street, located a minute’s walk from JBA Physio (please see map).

• The will be pedestrian access from Watson Grove/Grange Road to JBA Physio.

Impact on Travel to Glen Huntly 

• Clients living in Elsternwick and Caulfield South, please note there is an estimated 5km detour via North Road. 

• Clients living in Caulfield, Caulfield North, and Caulfield East, please note there is an estimated 5km detour via Dandenong Road

•  Clients from Ormond, McKinnon, and Brighton should come via North Road and Grange Road.

• Clients reaching the clinic on foot will be able to cross Glen Huntly Road at the Glen Huntly and Grange Road intersection.

JBA Physio is renovating the Pilates studio.

We are closing the Pilates Studio on Saturday 28th May for a 2-week break from all Pilates and Exercise classes. We are upgrading the studio, and painting the studio. Classes start again in the studio on Tuesday 14th June with Irwin Kim and Jane Banting.

Esteban Koshy is leaving at the end of May

We are sorry to announce that Esteban Koshy is leaving JBA Physio at the end of May 2022 to return to Canada. 

Esteban has been such a valuable member of our team; we thank him so much for his dedication to all the patients at JBA Physio. 

Esteban's plans are to return to Canada to complete his Physio entrance exam and to take his physio skills to the strength and conditioning field, working towards becoming a specialist in this field.

We wish Esteban well with his future endeavours.

Masks are required inside the clinic

A friendly reminder that while there have been relaxations to COVID restrictions and mask rules, the Australian Physiotherapy Association states “masks are required in publicly accessible areas of a healthcare premise”. They may be taken off during Pilates or exercise classes if adequate social distancing can be maintained.

Friendly reminder of our COVID-Safe protocols

JBA Physio is open for all physiotherapy services, including Pilates and Exercise classes. This is a friendly reminder of our COVID-Safe protocols when entering our clinic:

• Wear a mask before entering

• QR code check-in upon arrival

• Use provided hand sanitizer

• Social distance wherever possible

• Proof of double vaccination or negative test 48hrs prior

JBA Physio is open between Christmas and New Years

JBA Physio will be open as normal until 24th December. We will be closed from 25th to 28th December then reopen for limited hours between Christmas and New Years.

Senior Physiotherapist Irwin Kim will be available on the following dates:

29th Dec - 8am-5pm

30th Dec - 10am-7pm

31st Dec - 10am-3pm

Closed:

25th - 28th December

1st - 3rd January 

The clinic will reopen on the 4th January as normal, with limited Pilates and Exercise classes. We encourage you to make physio appointments in advance as we are getting busy leading up to the end of the year.

Updates to Face-to-face Essential Physiotherapy under stage 4 Lockdown

Dear clients,

We have sought further advice from the Victorian Department of Health over the weekend regarding current restrictions for Victoria, and how JBA Physio can continue to look after their clients. 

• The good news is that we can offer face-to-face essential physiotherapy and Telehealth services. 

• Unfortunately all Pilates and Exercise sessions will be paused until Friday 11th June. 

• Call JBA Physio on Monday to book an appointment either face-to-face or via telehealth, or to seek further clarification from our JBA team. 

The following information is available on the DHHS website under Health Care:

• You can leave home to receive health care or attend medical appointments.

• If you need to see a doctor or health care professional, you should do so. Your doctor or health care professional can provide advice on how to stay safe. 

• The 5km limit does not apply to care and health care

All physio Pilates and exercise classes have been paused until the current lockdown ends. We intend to resume all on-site services on Friday, 11th June 2021.

Lockdown Extended to 10th June - Telehealth Services

JBA Physio will be providing Telehealth consultations between 28th May and 10th June, in line with stage 4 lockdown restrictions. For emergencies, we are able to offer face-to-face treatment. To book an appointment please call 1300 292 894 or visit our ‘Book Appointment’ page.

We hope to resume normal face-to-face treatment and group classes by 4th June unless otherwise advised by health authorities.

All appointments and classes during the lockdown have been rescheduled. Clients will have received notification via SMS, email or phone call.

Welcome Tim McCurdy and Esteban Koshy to JBA Physio!

We are very excited to announce that Senior Physiotherapist Tim McCurdy and Associate Physiotherapist Esteban Koshy have joined JBA Physio this year! Both Tim and Esteban are already making a dynamic impact within the clinic. Their skills and knowledge are a great asset to the team at JBA.

Tim McCurdy

Tim McCurdy has worked in private practice since graduating from the University of Melbourne in 2000. With a special interest and expertise in sports injuries, chronic pain management and paediatric and adolescent injury, Tim endeavours to deliver individualised treatment and tailored injury-management programs for his clients.

Esteban Koshy

Esteban Koshy completed his Doctorate in Physiotherapy from the University of Melbourne. He has previously worked in a boutique personal training facility where he gained valuable experience in VIP exercise planning, group classes and nutrition programs. 

His specialisations include exercise science, disability support, Pilates and strength and conditioning. With his prior experience, Esteban runs regular Pilates and exercise classes at JBA in conjunction with his physiotherapy consultations.

Outside of the clinic, both Tim and Esteban enjoy staying active and exploring the outdoors. Tim is also an amateur wine-maker, while Esteban is a music enthusiast.

Availability

Tim is available afternoon, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. 

Esteban is practising full time and available morning, afternoon and evening, Monday to Friday.
